We (me and the lovely man) got a kitten. We are moving in to a new place at the end of July, which means combining silverware and tupperware, deciding which blender stays (his), and which pots and pans go (mine). It means intertwining our lives the way our fingers are when we hold hands (wow, that was pretty sappy even for me, but whatever). It means a solid step across the threshold to what is next for us, toward the future, toward each other. And on Sunday, we got a kitten to begin this next phase with us and to satisfy a need for pet induced stress-reduction (his) and some serious kitty lust (mine).
We’ve got a few names floating around and are waiting for one to land. In the meantime, we haz kitten. I will take my rightful place as a cat photo/video poster on the interwebs. Isn’t that what it’s for anyway?
Life is good. And even better with kittens.
One of my goals this year is to begin to learn French, so I have been listening to French music, watching French movies and listening to a language CD in my car. But this – this epic combination of things I love: cats, the name Henri, foreign films, black and white movies and (of course) ennui, will be watched by me a million times until I can recite it by memory in French. Enjoy.
I am slowly moving into the BROTHEL. It’s taking a while because I work full time and can’t afford to hire a team of people to “move me” while I’m at work. I should be all in this weekend, though, thanks to a team of family and friends.
Right now there’s a BRAND SPANKING NEW BED in the bedroom that I am so in love with it’s a little sad. There’s one old rug in the living room, one new/old lamp, and one fabulous long-admired, new painting that I got in trade for a writing assignment just yesterday.
My favorite part of the house so far is the resident cat who wandered in the front door, plopped down in a patch of sunshine and watched me, in between taking a cat-bath, as I wandered through the rooms deciding where I was going to put things. He/she is a chatty cat being part siamese and all, so he/she will be good company and I would imagine a very good neighbor.
Life is good and getting better. Just add cats.
